Library Closed

All Livingstone Shire Libraries will close until further notice from midnight 25th March 2020

Following the Prime Minister’s announcements on March 24th in response to the COVID-19 emergency, all of our library branches will close at close of business on 25 March 2020 until further notice.

This includes the branches at Yeppoon, Emu Park, Byfield, Marlborough and Mount Chalmers.

This decision has been made in line with Government requirements and strict social distancing protocols that are in place to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Our greatest priority at this time is the health and wellbeing of library customers, team members and the wider community.

  • Rest assured, while our doors are closed, our online library is always open – with 24/7 access to our digital collections;
  • Download an eBook, stream a movie, learn online – we have you covered;
  • Discover innovative ways that you can continue to connect with us from home
  • Other Council related business? Visit ONLINE SERVICES 24/7 to pay bills, register animals, lodge customer requests or applications.

While we are not going to be open to the public, our staff will be available to assist you over the phone or via email  during our normal opening hours of 9am - 5pm. We would also like to share a new engagement platform that has been created to help provide the community with information regarding COVID-19. Get Involved is an interactive way that people can share ideas and stories, ask questions and much more!

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram @lsclibraries to stay up to date and informed with any new developments, and to learn more about ways in which you can connect with us from home. Storytime has also gone online so be sure to tune in for rhymes and stories.

Questions in response to library closures

My library books are overdue – how do I return my library items?

  • Any outstanding loans will automatically be renewed until the libraries reopen.

  • There is no urgent need to return your library items, however if you need to, we have made our after-hours library return chutes at Yeppoon and Emu Park libraries currently available 24/7.

Please note: Return chutes are not available at the Marlborough, Mount Chalmers or Byfield branches.

Can I still place items on hold?

  • As our libraries will be closed, our reserves service is temporarily unavailable and customers will not be able to place new reserves on items.

  • The Inter-library loan service is also unavailable.

  • You can still place reserves on our digital eBook and eAudiobook titles.

I have lost my library card – how can I access the online resources?

We realise these are exceptional circumstances. To help you get access to our online resources, please phone your local library who will ask some questions to validate your identity. Our library staff will then talk you through how to access our resources from home.

What is my password?

Your password is usually the 8 digits of your date of birth.

If this PIN isn’t working, use the Forgot My Password? link from the library catalogue and follow the prompts, or contact our library staff for assistance.

Livingstone Shire Council's Libraries offer access to a wide range of information and resources both onsite and online. There is also a wide selection of programs for children, youths and adults.
