Off-leash dog park options being considered for Livingstone

Council is investigating options for a possible designated off-leash dog park to be established in the Shire.

Mayor Andy Ireland said he had spoken to a number of residents about the idea, who were all passionate about seeing the vision become a reality for the community.

“I believe an off-leash dog park would not only benefit our beloved pets, but it would also build a sense of community and create important social connections where like-minded people can catch-up and enjoy the outdoors while keeping their animal happy,” Mayor Ireland said.

“Designated off-leash dog parks have proved to be very popular in other parts of the State and provide a safe community setting where dogs can play.

“Council is currently investigating and identifying potential sites for off-leash dog areas in Livingstone Shire and will include consultation with the Livingstone community as to preferred locations.

“A report on the investigation will be presented to Council at the August 2020 Council meeting as well as a business case for consideration as part of the 2020/2021 Budget for the creation of off-leash dog areas within the Shire.”
