Livingstone Shire Council Invites Applications for Councillor Vacancy
Livingstone Shire Council is pleased to announce that applications for the councillor vacancy created by the resignation of Councillor Nigel Hutton will be open from tomorrow, 31 March 2023.
Following the endorsement of the nomination process by the Council, interested individuals who meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the Nomination for Councillor Vacancy information package are invited to register as a candidate and be considered for appointment until the end of the current electoral term in March 2024.
Candidates must reside within the Livingstone Shire boundaries and meet the conditions outlined in the Local Government Act 2009 to be considered for this position.
Mayor Andy Ireland said this is a great opportunity for people who are enthusiastic about representing their community's current and future interests and who possess the requisite skills and experience to make a significant contribution to the council.
“Councillors are expected to serve as a representative of their community, advocating for the needs and interests of their constituents, and contributing to the strategic direction of the council,” Mayor Ireland said.
“The council looks forward to receiving applications from interested candidates.”
Applications will be accepted online at https://getinvolved.livingstone.qld.gov.au/ from 8.30 am tomorrow, 31 March 2023, and will close at 5.00 pm on Friday, 7 April 2023.
The appointment of the preferred candidate will be undertaken by vote at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday, 18 April 2023.
