Lost and Found Animals (Domestic Cats and Dogs only)

If we find your pet with any type of identification and/or registration tag, you will be contacted by a Council Officer.

You can call Council’s Customer Support Centre on 1300 790 919 during business hours if you:

  • have lost a pet; 
  • want to claim your impounded animal (after payment of the registration of the animal with Livingstone Shire Council and applicable impounding fees); 
  • want to report a found stray animal; or 
  • want to report a wandering animal. 

Alternatively you can lodge a request through Council's Online Services.

All impounded animals are held at the Livingstone Shire Council Pound for a minimum of three (3) days if the owner is not identifiable, or five (5) days if the owner is identifiable. After this time animals may be rehomed or euthanised.

Council works closely with Capricorn Animal Aid and the RSPCA. People wishing to foster or re-home an animal in our pound should contact these organisations directly.

Due to our proximity with Rockhampton Regional Council, if your lost pet is not listed here we also encourage you to contact their Council. You can check their website here.

Please note: This page is updated daily.  It's common for this list to display no animals due to the high success rate of animals being returned to their homes or re-homed.
