With its 2023 programme officially launching at Fig Tree Galleries today, participants can expect a jam-packed weekend of learning, curiosity and inspiration set against the backdrop of the beautiful Capricorn Coast.

Themed Stories By The Sea, the prestigious bi-annual event, held between 2 – 4 June, will bring together an exciting mix of book lovers, authors, editors, publishers and industry professionals from all over Australia, and within Livingstone Shire, to share their vast wealth of knowledge and passion.

Festival Director, Nene Davies, said the Capricorn Coast Writers Festival aims to foster the importance of books and reading, and was thrilled to welcome attendees and presenters from all over Central Queensland and beyond.

“Our wonderful seaside town will come alive with literary experiences for everyone,” Nene said.

“An exciting line-up of speakers will arrive ready to share their knowledge through panels and workshops, covering a myriad of topics for every writer and literary creative.

“Among these include Melbourne Slam Poet Joel McKerrow, Queensland Writers Centre CEO Lori-Jay Ellis, and many more industry professionals.

“This year’s workshops will have a focus on the craft of writing, as well as publisher, agent, and editor sessions. We will have meet-the-author events, story time for the little ones, events for teens and social events too. We aim to have something for everyone – readers and writers alike.”

The Capricorn Coast Writers Festival is proudly supported by Livingstone Shire Council, Keppel Coast Arts, The Sundae Agency and Chapter.

Portfolio Holder of Vibrant Communities (Tourism, Arts Culture), Councillor Rhodes Watson, said Council is proud to support this important community event, providing sponsorship towards the event promotion and branding.

“This event provides a wonderful opportunity for residents to learn and develop their skills in the art of storytelling,” Cr Watson said.

“Livingstone Shire is fortunate to be home to so many passionate and creative individuals, including the organisers of this fantastic event, which attracts people from all over the country to our region.”
