Fourteen organisations successful in sharing $45,000 as part of Community Grants Scheme!
The Livingstone Community Grants Scheme provides an opportunity for eligible not-for-profit community organisations to support and enhance community wellbeing and liveability, by building the capacity and resilience of these organisations across the Shire.
Officially endorsed by Council at an Ordinary Meeting on 17 April, the 14 successful groups were formally awarded their grants last night at The Hub in Beaman Park.
Round Two 2022/23 of the Livingstone Shire Council Community Grants Scheme is a partnership between Livingstone Shire Council and M. Cranny Investments.
Livingstone Shire Council Mayor Andy Ireland said Council was proud to provide continued funding support towards worthy projects that assist in improving the success of many of the wonderful clubs and groups across our region.
“Local groups had the opportunity to apply for up to $5,000 to further deliver on their commitment to the community and we are proud to deliver much-needed funding to our organisations that make our community better off,” Mayor Ireland said.
“Installation of solar panels, plumbing upgrades, new fencing, and new plant equipment purchases are just some of the activities that will share in this latest round of Community Grants.
“I’d like to congratulate each of the successful groups and applaud their members for the passion and dedication in continuing to work towards improving the liveability and inclusiveness of the Livingstone Shire community.”
President, Capricorn Coast Football Club, Reuben Roberts said their grant will allow the club to install air conditioning systems to its canteen and clubhouse.
“This will help to make these areas a more comfortable working environment during the warmer seasons not only for our club committee but also our helpful club parents and volunteers that support our canteen,” Mr Roberts said.
“This kind of support from Council gives us the motivation and encouragement we need to continue our mission and make a positive impact in the community.
“It also helps provide us with the resources and funding and sends a powerful message to our members and broader community that our work is valued and appreciated.”
Councillor Pat Eastwood, Portfolio Holder of Healthy and Inclusive Community, said he is looking forward to seeing a variety of projects and upgrades come to life.
“The Livingstone Community Grants Scheme aligns with Council’s ongoing commitment to strengthen diversity through inclusive, equitable, and accessible services, as part of the Livingstone Community Plan: Towards 2050.
“Council offers two rounds of community grants each financial year and I encourage anyone looking to enhance community wellbeing and liveability to apply for the next round opening in August 2023.”
Council would like to congratulate all recipients of the 2022-23 Round Two Livingstone Shire Council.
