Event organisers invited to apply for Round 2 of LSC Event Sponsorship Program

Livingstone Shire Council is pleased to announce that Round 2 of its recently revitalised Event Sponsorship Program is now open, offering an opportunity for event organisers to secure financial or value-in-kind support for events scheduled from 1 January to 30 June 2024.

This program is designed to amplify the economic and community benefits events bring to the Shire. With a dedicated budget of over $200,000 per year, this sponsorship initiative aims to empower local event creators and foster the growth of a diverse range of events, from small community gatherings to large-scale economic endeavours.

Mayor Andy Ireland expressed his delight with the success of the program's initial round.

“The response to our first round was impressive. The diversity of the events and the enthusiasm of the organisers was truly exciting and demonstrates the vibrant fabric of our community and its commitment to fostering meaningful social and economic connections,” Mayor Ireland said.

"From well-established to emerging events, a total of 28 recipients have been successfully supported for events taking place between now and December 2023.

Councillor Rhodes Watson, Portfolio Holder of Vibrant Community (Tourism, Arts, Culture), highlighted the program's impact through the lens of successful Council-sponsored events.

"The achievements of events like the CQU Village Festival and Yeppoon Running Festival, both held in the past month, are testaments to the positive outcomes of collaboration between the Council and event organisers," Cr Watson explained.

"We look forward to building upon this success with our latest round of sponsorships. I encourage anyone planning community events to apply, as these experiences play a crucial role in enriching our community and contributing to our region's vitality."

Round 2 applications are open from Wednesday, 9th August, and will close at midnight on Friday, 8th September 2023.
