From plumbing upgrades, concrete pathways, air conditioning and solar panel installation, the Community Grants Scheme helps to provides a wide variety of important improvements to local groups and clubs across the Shire.
With the latest round of the scheme opening 4 September, Livingstone Shire community groups and sporting clubs are being encouraged to apply for a share of funding to deliver innovative projects and programmes.
The Livingstone Shire Council Grants Scheme, provides up to $5,000 to eligible not-for-profit community groups to deliver projects that increase their capacity and resilience and respond to community needs.
Fourteen applicants successfully applied for the grants in the most recent round for the 2022/23 financial year.
Mayor of Livingstone Shire Council, Councillor Andy Ireland, said Council stands proud as a supporter of community groups, acknowledging their irreplaceable contribution to the region.
“Worthy community groups, sporting clubs and organisations like Yeppoon Meals on Wheels, Capricorn Coast Netball Association, Capricorn Coast Landcare Group Inc., Sailability Capricornia and Capricornia Catchments Inc., to name a few, have benefitted from previous rounds of the Community Grants Scheme,” Mayor Andy Ireland said.
“These grants have made a long-term difference for countless community and sporting groups over the years.”
Councillor Pat Eastwood, Portfolio Holder of Healthy and Inclusive Community encouraged groups to get their application in.
“The funding may seem like a small amount, but it can make a huge impact to the operations of a club or group,” Councillor Eastwood said.
“It can really help to turn clubs around and get them back up and running to the level they need to be, so they can focus on doing what they do best – bettering our community.”
The latest round of the Livingstone Shire Council Community Grants Scheme opens on 4 September, applications close on 29 September 2023 at midnight.
Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria and operate within the boundary of Livingstone Shire Council’s Local Government Area, providing programmes or activities that benefit residents, improving overall community well-being, and aligning with the Livingstone Shire Community Plan.
The grants are administered through the SmartyGrants online platform with an Applicant Information Session to be held on Wednesday, 6 September from 5pm to 6.30pm at Level 2, The Hub, James St, Yeppoon.
