From sports carnivals to Festival of the Wind, live music or the Great Australia Day Beach Party, a wide range of events will benefit from both in-kind and funding support as part of Livingstone Shire Council’s Event Sponsorship Program.

The latest round of recipients was adopted at last month’s ordinary Council Meeting which includes small community events to larger scale regional events, organised by a wide variety of local clubs and organisations.

Mayor Andy Ireland congratulated each of the successful applicants, highlighting the importance of these events that benefit the community, bring tourism, support the ideals of Council and are unique to the region.

“We’re very fortunate in Livingstone to have so many fantastic local groups, clubs, businesses and organisations who work tirelessly year-round to provide exciting, informative and fun experiences for all age groups,” Mayor Ireland said.

“Council is also proud to provide a significant contribution to the 38th Marlborough Agricultural Show of $10,000 for their event in 2024, which will assist in providing one of their best shows to date.

“Council recognises the positive impact social, cultural, and environmental initiatives deliver to communities across the Shire and is committed to providing worthwhile support and meaningful assistance through its various grant programs and activities.”

Councillor Rhodes Watson, Portfolio Holder of Vibrant Community (Tourism, Arts, Culture) said this sponsorship initiative aims to empower local event creators and foster the growth of a diverse range of events, from small community gatherings to large-scale economic endeavours.

“We’ve seen a diverse range of events included in the latest round of the program such as, Great Keppel Island Beach Games, Marlborough and District Campdraft 2024, King of Kings (Fishing), as well as annual highlights on the Livingstone calendar like the Yeppoon Show.

“Council is proud to support both major and minor events in our region and looks forward to building upon this success in the latest round of the sponsorship program.

"I encourage anyone planning community events to apply to future rounds, as these experiences play a crucial role in enriching our community and contributing to our region's vitality."
