Tennis for All at Yeppoon’s Inclusive Open Day Event

Get ready to be served up some fun, fitness, and inclusivity as Yeppoon Tennis Club, in partnership with Livingstone Shire Council, proudly presents the inaugural All Abilities Tennis Open Day.

This special event invites community members to come and try the inclusive tennis program, designed to welcome individuals with a disability.

Recreation and Culture Committee Co-Chair, Councillor Andrea Friend, expressed Council’s pride in supporting the All Abilities Tennis Open Day.

“This initiative highlights our commitment to fostering an inclusive community where everyone can participate in recreational activities,” Cr Friend said.

Recreation and Culture Committee Co-Chair, Councillor Lance Warcon said this event is a wonderful opportunity for community members with a disability to engage in a sport that promotes physical health, social interaction, and fun.

“Council extends a heartfelt thank you to Yeppoon Tennis Club for their dedication in making this event possible, and I encourage everyone to come along and join in the excitement,” Cr Warcon said.

Community members will have the opportunity to learn more about the Yeppoon Tennis Club's All Abilities Tennis Program, which will be launching soon. Carers and family members are also encouraged to join in on the court, share the fun and enjoy the free sausage sizzle.

President of the Yeppoon Tennis Club, John Wilczek, said Yeppoon Tennis Club is looking forward to opening the courts to the community for the All Abilities Tennis Open Day.

“Our goal is to make tennis accessible to everyone, and the open day is a perfect way to kick-start that,” said Mr Wilczek.

“Tennis isn’t just about playing a sport; it's about building friendships, enhancing fitness, and fostering a sense of belonging in our community.

“We hope to see many new faces ready to pick up a racket and experience the joy of tennis.

“All necessary equipment will be provided by Yeppoon Tennis Club, so just bring your enthusiasm and tennis shoes.”
