Take the opportunity to make some special memories with your kids these school holidays and join in the fun of Winter on the Capricorn Coast!

Coordinated by Livingstone Shire Council with the help of several local businesses and organisations, these events aim to bring families together by encouraging connection, imagination, play, artistic expression, helping to create memorable moments for children of all ages.

Kicking off from Friday 21 June, the two-week programme features plenty of activities to keep your kids engaged and entertained, with something to choose from almost every day.

Recreation and Culture Committee Co-Chair, Councillor Lance Warcon said there was plenty on offer as part of the exciting line-up of activities, designed to spark creativity, foster a love for music, promote physical fitness, and celebrate culture.

“From Mini Olympics, Movie at the Park, Tides and Tunes, LEGO Free Play, Self Defence Workshops, arts and crafts workshops, Fishing Friendzies, Tea Tasting Workshop, NAIDOC Week March and activities, Beachside Twilights Markets and more, there is something for every age group to participate in,” Cr Warcon said.

“One of the exciting new events included in this programme is the official opening of the New Youth Room at the Yeppoon Community Centre, where young people aged 11 and over can visit anytime from 10am to 5.30pm on selected days, as a safe and welcoming space to chill out, connect with friends or take part in a range of activities like art, gaming, movies, and books!”

Recreation and Culture Committee Co-Chair, Councillor Andrea Friend said Council is proud to continue to deliver these school holiday programmes throughout the year, which have been very popular among the youth of Livingstone since launching in 2021.

“Council is committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors by providing exceptional services, facilities, and programs, and the school holiday program is a wonderful example of this,” Cr Friend said.

“In addition to the long list of activities, an exciting live performance called ‘YOU are a Doughnut!’ will come to Yeppoon Town Hall on 30 June, and is a brand new biological-musical-comedy-adventure that explores the ins-and-out of the human digestive system – suitable for children aged five to 12 years.”

Council’s popular Tides and Tunes program will also see talented local musicians take to the Yeppoon Amphitheatre stage to perform live each Friday through to Sunday evenings across two weekends in June, and Friday and Sunday evening on 5 July and 7 July.

The school holiday events will be held from Friday 21 June and will run until Sunday 7 July.
