Livingstone Shire Council is delighted to announce the successful recipients of Round Two of the Livingstone Shire Council Event Sponsorship Program for 2024/2025.

The program aims to support vibrant community events, cultural activities, and economic growth across the region.

Co-Chair of the Recreation and Culture Committee, Councillor Lance Warcon, commended the program and its impact on local communities.

“Council recognises the positive impact that these social, cultural, and environmental initiatives deliver to communities across the Shire, and is committed to providing worthwhile support and meaningful assistance through its various grant programs and activities,” Cr Warcon said.

This sponsorship round allocates a total of $79,079.06 to support a variety of events, from weekly local gatherings to large-scale regional celebrations, in line with the Shire’s Invest Capricorn Coast Region Event Strategy 2025.

This strategy serves as a strategic roadmap for enhancing the region’s event landscape and attracting new activities to Livingstone Shire.

Funding Breakdown:

  • Community Hall or Market Fund – $8,637.26: Funding in-kind for local gatherings, including indoor bowls at the Emu Park Singing Ship and monthly music at the Yeppoon Town Hall.
  • Community Events (up to $5,000) – $25,350: Supporting events that bring communities together, like the KBSC Woman and Girls Regatta and the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Emu Park Historical Museum Society.
  • Regional Events (up to $15,000) – $30,091.80: Supporting larger gatherings such as the Capricorn Film Festival and the Festival of the Wind, which attract visitors from across the region.
  • Economic Event (up to $30,000) – $15,000: Funding allocated to the Great Australia Day Beach Party, a celebrated event that promotes tourism and economic activity for Livingstone Shire.

This round of funding will support events scheduled between January and July 2025, filling the local calendar, and further fostering a sense of community pride.

Councillor Warcon also highlighted Council’s ongoing efforts to enhance the program based on feedback received from applicants and assessors.

"This collaborative approach ensures that the program continues to meet the needs of our community and remains a vital resource for promoting local events,” Cr Warcon said.

“Through its sponsorship programs, Council aims to not only strengthen social connections amongst the community, but also highlight the unique appeal of the region.

“Council is proud to support both major and minor events across Livingstone and looks forward to seeing these events come to life, enriching the cultural, social, and economic fabric of the Shire.”
