Nature-Based Resilience Project

The Nature-Based Resilience Project is funded by the Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Fund (QRRRF) with a grant of $499,000. This initiative, supported by the Federal and Queensland Governments, aims to enhance community resilience against natural disasters through sustainable management of natural ecosystems.

A dedicated project officer will oversee the creation of a Nature-Based Resilience Framework and the establishment of two demonstration sites by June 2025. These sites will model effective responses to hazards like coastal events, bushfires, and floods, providing valuable insights and contributing to local biodiversity preservation.

The project will engage stakeholders and the community through workshops, forums, and open days, fostering collective efforts to address challenges such as climate change, disaster risk reduction, and food and water security.
