The Role

Livingstone Shire council is recruiting for two (2) skilled trade qualified Carpenters to join Council’s Facilities Management team on a on a permanent full time basis.  This role reports to the Supervisor Facilities Maintenance and  involves performing a variety of carpentry tasks, including construction, maintenance, and repairs of Council assets. The successful candidate will work on minor capital building projects and maintenance activities, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety at all times. Candidates will be required to demonstrate how their experience meets the position responsibilities and requirements as outlined in the position description. 

Successful candidates will have sound knowledge of carpentry and concrete methods related to project construction, and an understanding of current building codes and work health and safety legislation. Carpenters play a key role in promoting safety at work, and leading by example through safe work practices, sharing safety experiences and reporting.

Carpenters effectively manage their time and assist with planning, setting priorities, and organizing high-quality work and the delivering excellent customer service and meeting expectations and deadlines.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Carpentry and experience undertaking a range of carpentry and building construction tasks including maintenance activities on various assets and operations relation to the position; and
  • Possess and maintain a Construction Induction (White Card).
  • Possess and maintain a current motor vehicle drivers licence.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a Working at Heights Certificate.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain First Aid Certification.
