- The Role

Council has a permanent full time opportunity available for a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Supervisor who has strong leadership and payroll technically expertise to lead a payroll team in the provision of comprehensive payroll services for Council including managing all aspects of end-to-end payroll processes. This position requires highly competent skills and professional knowledge across all areas of payroll with the ability to resolve complex issues, oversee the payroll system configurations, and drive improvements to support accurate and efficient payroll operations.
The successful candidate will demonstrate their experience in effectively managing a Payroll team, specifically overseeing accurate and timely preparation and processing of the employee payroll. Additionally, the Supervisor will be at the forefront of managing end-to-end payroll for a workforce of approx. 400 employees, working in our HRIS, Aurion and will be instrumental in supporting and maintaining employee payroll records compliant with relevant Acts, Awards, Enterprise Agreements and Contracts.
The Supervisor is required to lead the provision of advice, undertake analysis, and guide internal customers on a broad range of payroll functions including, but not limited to, taxation obligations, superannuation requirements, Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting and Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation, application and any associated industrial risks.

- Skills, Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated substantial experience in processing end-to-end payroll services in medium to large complex organisations, including knowledge of Single Touch Payroll 2, reconciliations, leave management, and superannuation.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply Awards, Certified Agreements, employment contracts, and relevant legislation to ensure compliance and provide accurate advice to stakeholders.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring a small team, including monitoring performance, providing coaching, and fostering a positive and high-performing team environment.
- Must possess and maintain a current motor vehicle drivers licence.
