Twelve local clubs and groups have been awarded their share of $21,000 as part of Round One in the 2020/21 Livingstone Community Grants!

The Livingstone Community Grants, proudly supported by Livingstone Shire Council and Inverness Yeppoon, provides funding to community groups and sporting clubs to deliver innovative projects and programmes that respond to local community needs.

The 12 groups were formally awarded their grants last night at The Hub in Beaman Park.

Portfolio holder of Vibrant Community (Tourism, Events and Culture), Councillor Tanya Lynch, said this round has provided up to $2,000 to successful applications from not-for-profit community groups and sporting clubs.

“These grants provide a fantastic opportunity for groups of all sizes and purposes to obtain financial support towards projects which help to keep them up and running efficiently or add new functions to their capabilities,” Cr Lynch said.

“Livingstone Shire is very fortunate to have such passionate and dedicated people within our communities who are constantly working towards improving the liveability and inclusiveness of our region.

“Some of the groups which benefitted in this round of funding include the Emu Park Surf Live Saving Club Inc. for the purchase of kitchen and canteen equipment, Keppel Sands Community Advancement League Inc. for the purchase of a lawn mower, computer monitor and signage for the community hall, and the Cawarral Cricket Club Inc. for the purchase of tables and chairs.

“These groups are the lifeblood of Livingstone, and while these items may seem minor or insignificant, they make a huge difference to the operations of these groups and the services they provide to their members and the wider community.

“Council would also like to sincerely thank Inverness Yeppoon for its continued funding support towards these grants each year.”
