Time is almost up to nominate a leader in Livingstone for the 2021 Australia Day Awards!

With only two weeks left until nominations in Livingstone for the 2021 Australia Day Awards, Council is encouraging the community to get behind their mates and nominate a community champion.

Australia Day Award’s Committee chairperson Councillor Adam Belot, said while there had been some fantastic applications already submitted, there was still time to get your nomination in for someone you believe is doing an outstanding job in the community.

“Council is calling on the Livingstone community to show their support for an unsung hero they believe contributes to making this region a better place,” Cr Belot said.

“Livingstone Shire is home to a wide variety of clubs and groups whose members are selfless and contribute countless hours of service without much recognition and that’s why Australia Day Awards are the perfect opportunity to acknowledge their generosity.

“From sporting clubs, environmental groups, arts and culture, community service and more, there are so many honourable people in Livingstone who deserve to be celebrated.”

Awards will be presented in the following categories: 

• Citizen of the Year: Recognising those who have made a valuable contribution to the betterment of our Shire in 2020

• Young Citizen of the Year: Recognising young people (18 years or Younger) who have made a valuable contribution to the betterment of our Shire in 2020

• Community Group Service Award: Recognising those community groups who have made a worthy contribution to the community or enhanced social interaction within the community in 2020

• Living Legend Award: Recognising the lifetime achievements of individuals and how they have contributed to the community, to the betterment of the Livingstone Shire throughout the years

• Outstanding Dedication to Public Service Award: Recognising the significant contribution that public servants play in the life of our community and the nation.
