Second round of funding opens for RADF
Artists and arts practitioners have a second chance to apply for funding through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). RADF is designed to help local artists kick-start their projects and share them with the wider community.
Portfolio Holder of Vibrant Community (Tourism, Events and Culture), Councillor Tanya Lynch, said the programme is designed to support quality arts and cultural experiences across Queensland, including Livingstone Shire.
“RADF is a joint initiative between the Queensland Government and Livingstone Shire Council that encourages creators to use their imagination, ideas, or skills, to produce visual, auditory, or performing pieces,” Cr Lynch said.
“Whatever the case, the arts play a big role in how humans see and interact with others and the world in general. Art helps us emotionally, financially, and psychologically and even helps to shape individual and collective personality.
“There are so many reasons why art is important. Integrating arts more fully into our lives enriches each of us. A community full of art is a community full of culture,” she said.
Cr Lynch said applications for RADF Round Two funding will be open for a six-week period, from 18 January – 28 February.
“Round One funding recipients included Capricorn Coast Writers Festival, Capricorn Film Festival, Yeppoon Little Theatre, Latitude 23 Arts, Capricornia Catchments, and singer/songwriter, Kate Mahood,” she said.
“The funding assisted with the cost of a number of activities including art exhibitions, intensive workshops, digital projections, educational murals, and the recording of a five track EP.
“We have seen fantastic local arts projects supported through RADF. I strongly encourage artists and groups of all kinds to consider applying for Round Two funding online.
“Funding will be available for projects beginning after 1 April.”
