Keppel Kraken to receive major overhaul!

Yeppoon’s water play feature, Keppel Kraken, will soon have six new inground jets and more flat play area!

Livingstone Shire Council Mayor, Andy Ireland, said the multi award winning Keppel Kraken is a popular tourism drawcard but elements of the design needed improving.

“Council launched an online survey late last year to gauge the community’s preference on a number of upgrades they’d like to see carried out at the precinct,” he said.

“The most prominent was the removal of the levels of the blocks that for some, was a safety concern.”

Mayor Ireland said during the works, the water park area will be closed to the public.

“There will also be closure to some car parks at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club end,” he said.

Construction will begin from Monday, May 17, and is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, June 30.

Mayor Ireland said he’d like to thank those residents who jumped online and had their say on what improvements they’d like to see carried out.

“We pride ourselves on being a Council that listens to our community and we’re looking forward to the delivery of the upgraded facility for visitors to enjoy.
