In celebration of Livingstone’s first purpose-built dog park, Council is welcoming residents to bring their furry four-legged friends along to mark its official opening on Saturday, 24 July.

Custom seating, bubblers and a wide range of agility equipment ,including tunnel, bridge, weave poles and hurdles are just some of the facilities that our beloved pets will enjoy come opening day.

Constructed in Olive Dorey Dog Park on Clayton Road, Yeppoon, Mayor, Andy Ireland said it was a fantastic milestone to see the project reach completion.

“Council has received a lot of positive feedback about establishing a dog park within the Shire and while the plans were modified during construction after further consultation with local residents, we believe this space provides a great recreational area for local pet-owners to enjoy,” Mayor Ireland said.

“Olive Dorey Park holds a special amount of significance to many Lammermoor residents, as it was largely community inspired and built with help from the Cooee Bay Progress Association in the early 2000s.

“I encourage the community to come along on Saturday to take a look and bring your pet for a play and test out the new equipment.

“Council would also like to thank Skilling Queensland for its assistance in construction of the dog park.”

The dog park space itself covers 1,750 square metres of fenced off leash dog area and approximately 350 square metres of fenced agility area.

The park will provide the opportunity for dogs to exercise, socialise with other dogs, enjoy the fresh air, practice training techniques, play games, and burn off energy.
