Yeppoon Triathlon Festival is back by popular demand!

Back
More than just a competition, the Yeppoon Triathlon Festival has built its foundation on becoming a community and family-fun event since it launched on the Capricorn Coast six years ago.

Returning this year by popular demand, the festival promises to offer a weekend filled with fantastic opportunities for athletes of all fitness levels, as well as those who want to take part just for fun.

The event’s official launch held today, celebrated the festival’s sixth year, and highlighted all of the race features that will take place over the weekend of August 21 and 22.

Councillor Pat Eastwood, Portfolio holder of Healthy and Inclusive Community, said Council was proud to be major sponsor of the Yeppoon Triathlon Festival, to provide the region with another wonderful community-focussed event.

“From Olympic to Sprint triathlons for the serious competitors and Enticer for beginners plus an U10 novelty event, an event for people with special needs as well as the junior aquathlons and triathlons, there really is something for all ages and fitness levels,” Cr Eastwood said.
“This event also aligns with the Livingstone Community Plan: Towards 2050, to provide and promote sporting, community and cultural events and festivals, throughout the year, targeted at a range of different ages, interests and abilities.

“I encourage the Livingstone community to come out and support this fantastic weekend that celebrates sport and community spirit, while showcasing the beautiful Capricorn Coast.”

Organising committee chairman Craig McCormack said the Capricorn Coast provided the perfect backdrop for a triathlon event, offering great weather and a welcoming community.

“The Capricorn Coast is the perfect place to hold a triathlon, and we’ve made a few changes this year that will add to the occasion and encourage a broader range of participation, including team events for those not ready to tackle all three legs of a triathlon on their own,” Mr McCormack said.

“There are many people that have thought about doing a triathlon and are well and truly capable, but until they show up at the start line, it just won’t happen. This event is a perfect opportunity to take the plunge, tick that box and enjoy yourself in the process.

“The triathlon is not only a great opportunity for people to come together and share their love of the outdoors and fitness, but it also generates a huge boost to local businesses with so many families and visitors staying for the weekend or longer.”
