Get your community project off the ground with upcoming round of grants funding

Back
Whether it be electric bikes, a new gate and fence posts, or laptops and iPads, the Livingstone Community Grants are a wonderful opportunity for local groups and clubs to get their next project off the ground.

Opening on 2 August, Round One of the 2021/22 grants is proudly supported by Livingstone Shire Council and M. Cranny Investments, providing funding to community groups and sporting clubs to deliver innovative projects and programmes that respond to local community needs.

Cycling Without Age president Mary O’Donnell said its recent grant of $2,654 went towards purchasing a new e-bike to assist with its trishaw rides.

The local not-for-profit group connects older people and those with reduced mobility to their community and the outdoors, by providing free rides on trishaws, piloted by trained volunteers.

“Funds were also made available for assisting with the storage and transportation of our bikes,” Mrs O’Donnell said.

“Council’s support towards our club means so much to our volunteers and our wonderful companions who get great joy out of these rides.”

Councillor Pat Eastwood, Portfolio holder of Healthy and Inclusive Community, said, there are so many local clubs and community groups that contribute to a wide variety of activities and services across Livingstone.

“The current round will provide up to $5,000 to successful applications from not-for-profit community groups and sporting clubs, which can make all the difference to carrying out important projects for each individual club or group,” Cr Eastwood said.

“Groups which benefitted in the last round include Cockscomb Veterans' Bush Retreat Inc. for the purchase and installation of concrete footings to support donga accommodation; Emu Park Country Women’s Association (CWA) for computing equipment, and Yeppoon Seagulls Rugby League for concreting its undercover areas, to name just a few.

“Council would like to sincerely thank M.Cranny Investments for its continued funding support towards these grants each year,” Cr Eastwood said.

Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria, be operating within the Livingstone Shire Council's local government area and be providing programmes, outcomes or activities, which benefit residents and improve overall community well-being.

The grants are administered through the Smarty Grants online platform with an Applicant Information Session to be held on 3 August from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at the Community Education Room, The Hub, James Street, Yeppoon.

The grants will open from Monday, 2 August to 5pm Friday, 3 September 2021.
