New Livingstone Shire Waste App the first of its kind for CQ!

Livingstone Shire Council is taking its domestic waste and recycling services into the digital space with the launch of the Livingstone Waste Wise App, the first of its kind in Central Queensland.
The Livingstone Waste Wise App is an innovative product for our residents to have quick and easy access to handy information about their domestic kerbside waste and recycling service.
Portfolio holder of Water, Waste Management and the Environment, Councillor Andrea Friend, said the design of this innovative product offers residents quick and easy access to information about their domestic kerbside waste and recycling service.
“Until now we’ve always said “if in doubt – leave it out”, but now with this new App our new motto will be “if in doubt – check it out”!” Cr Friend said.
“If you sometimes feel confused about what you can and can’t recycle or where you should be disposing of your unwanted household items, this App will make waste disposal easier, and more importantly, it will help you sort your waste, which ultimately means more items can be recovered and reused.
“It has lots of useful information and hints on the waste services available to everyone living in our Shire, no matter where you are or what you’re doing. It’s like having an A-Z of recycling options in your pocket.
“We love where we live and by ensuring your household waste is disposed of correctly, we can help preserve our natural environment for generations to come.
“What’s also really exciting is that it’s the first Waste App for a mobile device in Central Queensland, so Council is really proud to deliver this application to help further promote the importance of sorting your waste and reducing the impact on our landfill.”
Some of the features of the Waste Wise App are:
• Find your kerbside waste and recycling collection days easily.
• View all of your services on a calendar; even special events.
• Set a reminder the night before your bin collection day so your bin is always out on time.
• Check and learn which items can be placed in your waste bin or recycling bin, reducing contamination and increasing recycling.
• Many answers to our communities most frequently asked waste and recycling questions.
• Search a comprehensive A-Z list of waste items and learn where they can be taken for recovery or safe disposal.
• Find out where each of Council’s Waste Facilities are located, their opening times and what can be disposed of at each facility.
• Easily make a request to Council if your bin is broken or your service was missed by clicking on a button and completing your details.
