Learn from local solar businesses at upcoming Sustainable Living workshop!

Back
If you’re interested in making the switch to solar and want to learn more, the upcoming Sustainable Living workshop may be just what you need to help make your decision.

A series of grassroots workshops presented by Thrive Essentials and Livingstone Shire have been held across the Shire over the past two months, focussed on simple ways to improve your lifestyle while also reducing your environmental impact.

Councillor Andrea Friend, Portfolio holder of Water, Waste Management and the Environment, said attendees will be provided with a smorgasbord of solar education by two local providers of solar and electrical.

“Brett Ashton from CQ Solar and Electrical and Brett Hughston from Yeppoon Electrical and Solar will give participants lots of information on the ins and outs of solar installation and its benefits to your household electricity. If you’re thinking about moving to solar, then this workshop will be a great place to start,” Cr Friend said.

“Some of the information that these guest speakers will discuss include battery life, solar installation, and how much you could save by making the switch. Residents are encouraged to bring along their electricity bill as a reference or to discuss with one of the solar experts after the workshop concludes.

“The Sustainable Living workshops have covered a wide range of topics including composting, recycling right, sewing, and bike maintenance, in order to empower and inform residents on how they can have more of a positive impact on the environment.

“It’s been wonderful to see the large take-up and interest we’ve had from the community about these topics, which demonstrates just how passionate and keen residents are to learn more about living more sustainably.”
