Fencing, awnings, cabinetry, electrical equipment and more, are just some of the projects that will share in $35,000 as part of the latest round of Livingstone Community Grants!

The Livingstone Community Grants is a partnership between Livingstone Shire Council and Mick Cranny Investments.

It provides an opportunity for eligible not-for-profit community organisations to support and enhance community wellbeing and liveability, by building the capacity and resilience of these organisations across the Shire.

Mayor Andy Ireland said Council was proud to provide continued funding support towards worthy projects that assist in improving the operations and functionality of many clubs and groups across Livingstone.

“I’d like to congratulate each group that has been successful in its application. While these items purchased may seem insignificant to others, they make a big difference to these groups, who work tirelessly for their community,” Mayor Ireland said.

“Council would also like to thank Mick Cranny Investments for the commitment to contributing $5,000 each round.”

Councillor Rhodes Watson, Portfolio Holder of Vibrant Communities (Tourism, Arts Culture) said local not-for-profit organisations were eligible to apply for up to $5,000.

“Some of the grant recipients include Emu Park Swimming Club, which will purchase fencing, Cawarral Cricket Club will install an awning on its new clubhouse, Cawarral School of Arts will purchase stainless steel benches to install in the Cawarral Hall, Yeppoon State School Parents and Citizens will buy a thermomixer for its tuckshop, Keppel Coast Country Music Club will purchase chairs and a pole saw; and Emu Park Historical Society will purchase a shade sail,” Cr Watson said.

“The Livingstone Community Grants Scheme aligns with Council’s ongoing commitment to strengthen diversity through inclusive, equitable, and accessible services, as part of the Livingstone Community Plan: Towards 2050.”

Councillor Pat Eastwood, Portfolio Holder of Healthy and Inclusive Community said it was exciting to see what local organisations were working on, and commended them for the valued contribution they provide to their communities.

“Council is proud to support community groups, including the arts, cultural, sport, and recreation groups, through advocacy and by helping them identify and secure funding streams and develop skills; including networking, governance, engaging volunteers, and business management,” Cr Eastwood said.
