Light Up Livingstone Christmas competition to spread festive cheer!
Back
Council is continuing to spread the Christmas cheer with the return of its Light Up Livingstone competition!
Following the popularity of last year’s inaugural competition, residents and businesses are being encouraged to add some sparkle to their front yards and window displays and be in the running to win some fantastic prizes.
Councillor Rhodes Watson, Portfolio holder of Vibrant Community (Tourism, Events and Culture), said ‘Light Up Livingstone’ aims to support the tradition of Christmas ‘light looking’ and encourages the community to embrace the festive spirit by decorating their homes and businesses in holiday themed displays.
“If you love Christmas and putting up light displays, this is the perfect time to get involved and spread some Christmas cheer in your neighbourhood,” Cr Watson said.
“We’ve created a dedicated Light Up Livingstone webpage with an interactive map where entrants can pin their location for the whole community to follow as they embark on their Christmas light trail this year.
“Last year’s entrants were very impressive and Council is excited to see what creative displays residents and business owners will come up with this time.
“This is a wonderful, free activity, providing families the opportunity to get together and take a tour around the Shire to discover a range of vibrant lighting displays.”
Council has created two competition categories; one for businesses and one for residents.
Entries will be judged on:
• Lighting display;
• Use of colour;
• Interactive elements;
• Innovative concepts; and
• Window/street appeal.
The prizes for the business competition include long lunches for colleagues and ferry transfers thanks to the support of Great Keppel Island Hideaway and Keppel Konnections.
First prize for the resident lights competition is a weekend at Great Keppel Island Hideaway for two adults and two children including meals and ferry transfers.
Entry forms and guidelines are available on Council’s Get Involved page
Entries close 5pm Monday 13 December 2021 with judging to be conducted on 14 – 15 December.
The winners will be announced the following week on Council’s Facebook page and website.
