Have your say on improvements to Yeppoon Aquatic Centre

Back

Livingstone Shire Council is seeking feedback from key stakeholders and the wider community about future upgrades and improvements to enhance the Yeppoon Aquatic Centre at Cooee Bay.

Council has been working towards obtaining a Federal Government funding agreement to deliver a new 50 metre swimming pool as well as facility upgrades.

Under consideration is a refurbishment of the existing undercover heated pool, roadworks to improve access and car parking.

Mayor Andy Ireland said fixing the existing 50 metre pool was not an option.

“It’s not financially viable to fix the pool because of its condition so Council needs to invest in a new facility,” Mayor Ireland said.

“To future proof the Yeppoon Aquatic Centre, it’s vital that a masterplan for the entire precinct is undertaken.

“Council is undertaking stakeholder and community consultation to better understand historic, current and potential future uses of the pool.

“I encourage all residents to get involved and have their say on this important project for our growing community.”

Consultation opens for two weeks from today and closes 13 March.
