Have your say on Livingstone’s 2023 Show Public Holiday
Livingstone Shire Council is currently seeking community feedback on the date residents would like to enjoy their Show Public Holiday next year.
Traditionally, the Livingstone Shire Council Show Public Holiday has been held on the Friday of the Rockhampton Show, which is one week after the Yeppoon Show.
Mayor Andy Ireland said this was originally considered the best way to ensure that residents from Livingstone Shire had an opportunity to attend the larger regional show.
“Each year Council makes an application to the Queensland Government for a dedicated Show Public Holiday,” Mayor Ireland said.
“Prior to this process, Council would love to hear what the community thinks regarding 2023 and value residents' feedback.
“The public holiday is a welcome boost to our local economy and tourism in our shire, so we want to ensure we choose the correct date that benefits most of the community.
“I encourage everyone to have their say as Council will use the feedback to make an informed decision when applying for our 2023 Show Public Holiday.”
Consultation opens for two weeks from today.
