Valuer-General issues Livingstone Shire Land Valuation
The Queensland Government’s Department of Resources’ Valuer-General has issued Land Valuation Notices to Livingstone Shire, with a general increase across most localities.
Property owners will receive land valuation notices from 31 March 2022 by email or post and they are effective from 30 June 2022.
Livingstone Shire Mayor Andy Ireland said property valuations issued by the Valuer-General can impact Council’s rates structure for the year ahead, which is currently under review.
“Property prices have increased dramatically in Livingstone Shire over the past few years with the COVID-19 pandemic and an influx of new residents,” Mayor Ireland said. “We have seen land valuations increase by as much as 64 per cent.
“Council will consider the impact of valuations for the Shire and for individual property owners, particularly where there is a significant rise in land valuations.
“We will continue to ensure our rates are delivering quality, essential services while still balancing the financial impact on each individual household.”
The last Shire-wide valuation occurred in 2020.
If you disagree with your land valuation, you have 60 days from the date of issue to lodge an objection with the State Government Department of Resources.
Land valuation listings can be viewed online at www.qld.gov.au/landvaluation or by visiting Council’s Customer Support Centre at the Town Hall.
