Livingstone Shire Council thanks its dedicated volunteers

The dedication and contribution of Livingstone Shire Council’s 100 volunteers is being recognised as part of National Volunteer Week.

This year’s theme, ‘Better Together’ acknowledges the importance of volunteering and how it allows community members to connect with others who have similar interests.

Mayor Andy Ireland said Council’s volunteer programmes provide an opportunity for residents to show their pride in the Livingstone community.

“Our volunteers make a significant contribution to our thriving community, and we thank them for their continuous dedication and hard work,” Mayor Ireland said.

“Council has about 100 volunteers who participate across 14 programmes within the shire.

“Their combined efforts contribute to the beautification and revegetation of the shire, smooth running of local events, as well as building a resilient and connected community.”

Robert Clegg recently joined Council’s ‘Art Partners’ programme to help with arts and culture events.

“I would highly recommend volunteering to those who are interested in making new connections and giving back to the community in an enjoyable atmosphere,” Mr Clegg said.

“Contributing to the community by providing excellent service and assistance to residents is very satisfying and I highly enjoy my role as a volunteer.”
