Salvage operation on Lammermoor Beach

Back

A section of Lammermoor Beach will be closed to the public from tomorrow (Tuesday 24 May) until Friday, while authorities work to remove the wreck of a vessel which sunk in rough conditions several weeks ago.

Maritime Safety Queensland has advised Livingstone Shire Council that salvage works are due to begin tomorrow, weather dependent, and will be carried out in daylight hours.

Traffic will be impacted during this period with intermittent wait times of up to 15 minutes on the Scenic Highway between Mulambin Road and Clayton Road. Detours will also be in place.

Lammermoor Beach will be closed during work hours between beach accesses LB1-LB11 (Lioness Park to Statue Bay) while the works are carried out.

Pedestrian access will also be impacted around the Statue Bay headland.

Council wishes to thank the public in advance for their cooperation during this multiple-agency response.
