Celebrating its 19th year, the festival will be heating up several venues across Central Queensland from 5 – 14 August. With showstopping performances spanning all musical spheres, the festival is set to be a live music lover’s dream.

Officially launched today at Yeppoon foreshore, the CQUniversity Village Festival is a community collaboration to celebrate our coastal vibe and embrace all that is great about our region through music, performing and visual arts, street theatre, workshops, and much more.

Mayor Andy Ireland said the CQUniversity Village Festival has been an iconic event on Livingstone Shire’s annual community calendar, engaging locals and attracting visitors from across the country.

“Since it began in 2003, the festival has cemented itself as the premier arts and culture festival for Central Queensland, and Council is thrilled to be supporting the event as a major sponsor again this year,” Mayor Ireland said.

“The 10-day festival will see our region come to life with an abundance of live performances and experiences across multiple venues and provides a chance for the community to celebrate and connect after a challenging two years.

“This not-for-profit festival wouldn’t be possible without the commitment and passion shown by the team of local volunteers working behind the scenes to bring us such a unique event that reflects the talent and charm of our region.

“The event has provided significant benefits to the community, arts sector and economy of Livingstone Shire, reflecting the ‘Livingstone Community Plan: Towards 2050’ vision to be a welcoming, connected and resilient community, celebrated for its natural beauty, vibrant culture and thriving economy.

“On behalf of Council and the community, we sincerely look forward to welcoming all artists, performers, and visitors to the region.”

CQUniversity Associate Vice-President Kim Harrington said that CQU, as the naming rights sponsor, was proud to not only support the event but play an integral role in its trajectory.

“CQUniversity recognised the potential this event had to generate impact and benefit for our community over a decade ago and we have been proud supporters ever since.

“With the involvement of our staff and students and our influence as the region’s local university with a reputation for engagement with our communities, we have been proud to play a part in the CQUniversity Village Festival becoming the premier event that it is today”.

Festival Chairman Danny Carr said the committee was proud to be presenting the nineteenth annual Village Festival for the Capricorn Coast.

“This year’s festival is focused on delivering the best music, arts and cultural experience the coast has experienced yet. With a variety of options to choose from, including live music, a bespoke marketplace, artist workshops, and the return of the popular Park Sessions at Emu Park there will be something for everyone to enjoy.”

“We’re pleased to continue to expand our festival footprint, kicking off with our opening night Speakeasy Prohibition Party at Yeppoon Town Hall on the 5th August and culminating in three days of outstanding musical talent on the Yeppoon foreshore.”

“It wouldn’t be possible for the committee to continue delivering this event without its major sponsors, CQUniversity as our long-time, naming rights partner, Livingstone Shire Council and Tourism and Events Queensland, not to mention the amazing local businesses who continue to throw their support behind this much-loved community event.”
