Expressions of Interest are invited to make your mark on Yeppoon’s CBD

Back

The council owned Station site is set to transform the heart of Yeppoon’s Town Centre by providing the opportunity for tenants and developers to work with Council and deliver an outcome activating the site for the benefit of the community.

Council has received funding to activate the area around the historic railway building as a community recovery space, particularly after disaster events. Commercial reuse opportunities submitted as expressions of interest will need to complement the intended funding purpose and contribute to the activation of Yeppoon’s Main Street.

Mayor Andrew Ireland, Portfolio Holder of Economic Development, said the activation of the historic site would benefit the entire community.

“The Station site is ideally located, within walking distance to Yeppoon foreshore, directly opposite the revitalised Bay Plaza and soon to be opened cinemas, plus offers significant street frontage and access to the Capricorn Coast Pineapple Trail,” Mayor Ireland said.

“The opportunities are endless for the Station, with potential uses ranging from retail (food, beverage and artisan products), entertainment (functions and markets) or even high density residential with mixed uses on the ground floor.

“Council welcomes expressions of interest meeting the development objectives, some of which include complying with the purpose of grant funding, adds immediate value, creates economic development opportunities and local jobs and supports long term growth of the town centre and region.

“It’s an exciting time to be investing in our region. With one of the most enviable lifestyles in Australia, the Capricorn Coast is experiencing an influx of new residents and businesses all eager to be a part of our future.
