Yeppoon Triathlon Festival officially launched
The Capricorn Coast is once again gearing up to host the increasingly popular Yeppoon Triathlon Festival next month.
The 2022 event was officially launched this morning by Livingstone Shire Acting Mayor, Councillor Adam Belot, and Chair of the Triathlon Committee, Mr Craig McCormack.
“This event is very inclusive and has something for everyone; beginner, intermediate and advanced athletes as well as those just wanting to have some fun,” Cr Belot said.
“Council is proud to be a major sponsor of this community-focussed event which showcases our beautiful coast and relaxed lifestyle.
“This event also brings a huge economic boost to our region, with many families staying in town for the weekend.
“I’d encourage everyone to come down to the Yeppoon Foreshore on Sunday August 21 to support the festival and cheer on those participating in the competitions.”
Organising Committee Chairman, Craig McCormack, said the club is very excited about this event.
“This has what we believe to be one of the most challenging Olympic Distance courses in Queensland, but there are a selection of other events for beginners and less experienced athletes to consider,” Mr McCormack said.
“We really do encourage people to challenge themselves by doing something new and exciting; it’s not as difficult as people imagine. You can even make up a team and share the workload it you prefer.
“Another aspect of this event that the club is keen to promote is the opportunity for locals to come and enjoy the spectacle.
“Despite some changed traffic conditions on Farnborough Road and Anzac Parade, easy access to the Yeppoon town centre remains available and the entertainment of cyclists and runners giving their all along Anzac Parade is worth the visit.
“I’d like to thank the dedicated team of volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes to give something unique to the Central Queensland community.
“These events don’t just happen, and I encourage everyone to get on board, either as a participant or a supporter.”
