Avoid the toss and tap the App! Waste vouchers go electronic from next month
Waste vouchers are going green from next month in a bid to reduce paper waste and cut printing costs.
Earlier this year Councillors formally endorsed the switch to electronic vouchers which will also provide data on how the vouchers are used and by whom.
Livingstone Shire ratepayers are being encouraged to download Council’s free Waste Wise App now, to access their electronic waste vouchers from 1 September 2022.
The App is easy to use, with ratepayers required to enter their property address, rates assessment number, and contact number to download their vouchers before use at any of the shire’s waste facilities.
Landlords are encouraged to pass on the downloaded vouchers to their tenants to assist them in keeping the property clean and tidy.
Councillor Andrea Friend, Portfolio holder of Water, Waste Management and the Environment said residential ratepayers will still get the current 10 vouchers per assessment.
“Council previously issued close to 20,000 paper vouchers annually, at a cost of about $18,000 for printing and postage,” Cr Friend said.
“The new vouchers are uniquely barcoded so if you lose your phone, the remaining vouchers will be safely stored electronically.
“Those who don’t own a smartphone or have trouble using technology can visit Council’s Customer Support Centres to request paper versions.
“The Waste Wise App also has lots of beneficial information about how and where to recycle your waste.”
You can download the App now to go in the draw to win one of five waste compost bins.
To download, go to the App Store/Google Play on your iPhone/Android device and search Livingstone Waste Wise.
