Regional visual art students showcase their work at Fig Tree Galleries
Central Queensland visual art students will be showcasing their work at the Fig Tree Galleries from Monday 3 October until Sunday 16 October, as part of this year’s Yeppoon Lions Tropical Pinefest celebrations.
The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art Central Queensland Regional Exhibition has been a familiar highlight in past years, with this year’s program resulting in a record number of entries.
These annual awards recognise and promote excellence in senior visual art education across Queensland schools, with selected finalists showcasing their work at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane.
Councillor Rhodes Watson, Portfolio Holder of Vibrant Community (Tourism, Arts Culture) said Council is proud to support the exhibition and is constantly amazed by the unique and innovative entries that are shown each year.
“It’s fantastic to see the Fig Tree Galleries being utilised to support and foster the growth of our arts and culture community within Livingstone,” said Cr Watson.
“We know that senior visual art students look forward to creating their pieces and participating in the Creative Generation Excellence awards each year and I encourage all residents to come along and view these impressive works of art.
“This year we have eight talented artists representing the Capricorn Coast in this exhibition and we would like to congratulate them on being a successful finalist in this state-wide awards program.”
