Final Boundary Review report recommends no change

The Local Government Change Commission has today recommended no change to the current boundaries between Livingstone Shire Council and Rockhampton Regional Council.

Mayor Andy Ireland said Livingstone Shire Council is pleased with the recommendation that Livingstone's boundaries be left alone.

“Following a lengthy review process, the Local Government Change Commission (Change Commission) delivered the report to Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, Dr Steven Miles today,” Mayor Ireland said.

“If the minister agrees with the Change Commission’s recommendation that would mean that the suburbs of Glenlee, Rockyview and Glendale will remain part of Livingstone Shire.

“The Minister for Local Government has not yet made an announcement.”

Mayor Ireland contended that irrespective of the minister’s decision, there will be no winner from this process.

“I’ve always maintained that this process was an unnecessary distraction from the real work of local government.

Livingstone and Rockhampton are interdependent communities and we commit to working collaboratively for the benefit of residents of both shires now and into the future."
