Community grants to support local groups now open for applications!

Livingstone Shire community groups and sporting clubs can now apply for a share of funding to deliver innovative projects and programmes, thanks to Livingstone Shire Council’s latest round of community grants.

The Livingstone Shire Council Grants Scheme provides up to $5,000 to eligible not-for-profit community groups to deliver projects that increase their capacity and resilience, and respond to community needs.

Fifteen applicants successfully applied for the grants in the most recent round for the 2022/23 financial year.

Mayor of Livingstone Shire Council, Councillor Andy Ireland, said Council understands how vital not-for-profit community groups are to the local community and how valuable their services are to the region.

“I am proud to lead a Council that values community groups and who acknowledges their importance to the region,” Mayor Ireland said.

“Worthy community groups, sporting clubs and organisations like Cockscomb Veterans Retreat, Yeppoon Junior Rugby League Football Club, Emu Park Art Gallery, and The Caves & District Lions Club, to name a few, have benefitted from previous rounds of the Community Grants Scheme.

“These grants have made a huge difference for Livingstone’s community and sporting groups in the past.”

Councillor Pat Eastwood, Portfolio Holder of Healthy and Inclusive Community, said the Livingstone Shire Council Community Grants are very popular and encouraged groups to get their application in.

“I would encourage all community and sporting groups to apply for this funding to get a helping hand with their projects. It takes a lot of sausage sizzles and raffles to raise the same amount applied for under the Community Grants Scheme,” Councillor Eastwood said.

“I’d like to thank M. Cranny Investments for financially contributing to the Community Grants and sharing our vision for a more vibrant and inclusive local community.”

Round 2 2022/2023 of the Livingstone Shire Council Community Grants Scheme opened on 13 February 2023, and applications close on 12 March 2023 at midnight.

Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria and operate within the boundary of Livingstone Shire Council’s Local Government Area, providing programmes or activities that benefit residents, improving overall community well-being, and aligning with the Livingstone Shire Community Plan.

The grants are administered through the SmartyGrants online platform with an Applicant Information Session to be held on 21 February from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm at Level 2, The Hub, James St, Yeppoon.
