The natural beauty and authentic Italian culture will be explored at Yeppoon Library next week, as the first Armchair Travel event for 2020 kicks off.

Livingstone Library’s Armchair Travel events aim to not only provide local residents with a taste of adventure and entertainment, but also helpful information and advice on visiting different countries, their local customs and culture and what to expect upon reaching these destinations.

Council’s very own Library Arts and Culture Coordinator, Julie Bickley, will present the Armchair Travel session on Wednesday 18 March after visiting the Mediterranean country in October 2018.

“I’d been inspired by a friend who’d been there before a couple of years ago and said it was a ‘must-do’ visit after I told her that I really wanted to go to Italy,” Julie explained.

“Cinque Terre is a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline. In each of the five towns, colourful houses and vineyards cling to steep terraces, harbours are filled with fishing boats and local restaurants serve up delicious seafood specialties.

“With each village connected by train, boat and walking trails, it was a fascinating way to take in the Italian way of life and could be appreciated through a different lens.

“From the sweeping ocean vistas and picture perfect villages to the friendly locals, Cinque Terre is one of my absolute best travel experiences and I can’t wait to share stories from my experience with the community.”

If you have a fascinating, lively and passionate travel story that will delight the community, speak with one of Council’s friendly library staff and put your name down to participate in this popular series.

Armchair Travel: Cinque Terre will be held Wednesday, 18 March from 6pm – 7pm at Yeppoon Library, John Street. To reserve your spot, register https://www.livingstone.qld.gov.au/whatson
