Livingstone Shire Council and the wider community bid farewell to Councillor Nigel Hutton today, who has resigned from his position after almost 10 years of dedicated service.

Attending his last Ordinary Council meeting, Mayor Andy Ireland described Cr Hutton as a tremendous asset to Livingstone Shire and its residents.

“Councillor Hutton has always been committed to making a positive impact in his community,” Mayor Ireland said.

“As the youngest Councillor ever elected in Livingstone, his work has been centred around promoting a strong sense of belonging and community ownership for the Shire, with a focus on financial responsibility, teamwork, and community engagement.”

Councillor Hutton's passion for community service has been evident in his involvement with the Yeppoon Lions as well as an organiser for the annual Pinefest celebrations for over 10 years.

He has also held various important positions within Council, including Deputy Mayor, portfolio councillor for Finance, Administration with sub-portfolio of Youth Development and the Arts, Digital Economy and Innovation Champion, Committee Chair for the Planning, Finance, Innovations and Business Excellence Committee, and Chairman of the Audit Risk and Business Improvement Committee.

Mayor, fellow Councillors, and the Executive Leadership team commended Cr Hutton on his progressive vision for the Shire and helping shape the first decade of the renewed Council following de-amalgamation in 2014.

“Throughout his time in office, Councillor Hutton has been committed to making a difference in the lives of the people of Livingstone, and his contributions to Council will be remembered for years to come,” Mayor Ireland said.

“On behalf of the Livingstone community, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Councillor Hutton for his tireless work and commitment to serving the community. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
