Sixteen Local Residents Apply for Livingstone Shire Councillor Vacancy
Livingstone Shire Council has received 16 applications from local residents who are interested in filling the vacancy left by the recent resignation of Nigel Hutton.
The position of councillor became vacant during the last 12 months of the current council term, which means the council is required by law to fill the position through appointment rather than a by-election.
The applicants are (in order of application): Helen Schweikert, Doris Bell, Katrina Houghton, Clint Swadling, Wade Rothery, Jillian Neyland, Kameron Johnson, Heath Henwood, Anthony White, Lance Warcon, Warren Maltby, Francois Gallais, Peter McCasker, Michael Decman, Karin Schuett, Bernadette Melrose.
The sitting councillors will now review and consider the applications before voting to appoint a candidate at the Council meeting on Tuesday, 18 April 2023.
Mayor Andy Ireland welcomed the applications.
“We appreciate the interest and commitment of all the applicants to serve the community in this important role,” Mayor Ireland said.
“And, we look forward to announcing the new councillor next week.”
