Winter on the Capricorn Coast makes for some school holiday fun!

Make some special memories with your kids these school holidays and join in the fun of Winter on the Capricorn Coast!

Coordinated by Livingstone Shire Council, these events aim to bring families together, encouraging connection, play, and helping to create memorable moments for children of all ages.

Kicking off from Friday 23 June, the two-week programme features plenty of activities to keep your kids engaged and entertained, with something to choose from almost every day.

Councillor Rhodes Watson, Portfolio Holder of Vibrant Communities (Tourism, Arts and Culture), said there was plenty on offer as part of the exciting line-up of activities, designed to spark creativity, foster a love for music, promote physical fitness, and celebrate culture.

“From arts and crafts in the park, basketball, kids yoga, a disco, cupcake decorating, live music and more, there is something for the whole family to enjoy,” Cr Watson said.

“One of the exciting new events included in this programme is the Eat Alley Working Bee where keen gardeners wanting to expand their knowledge can help to set up a community garden!

“Participants will be helping to construct, and fill raised garden beds, add a composting system and plant a variety of edible produce.

“Council is proud to continue to deliver these school holiday programmes throughout the year, which have been a huge success since launching in 2021.

“Not only do they provide wonderful experiences for the Shire’s youth, they also benefit our business community with an economic boost in driving more traffic to our town centres.”

To celebrate the final weekend of the holidays, a very special kids disco event will be held at Yeppoon Town Hall 8 July, for primary and high school aged children.

Kids can enjoy a live DJ and funky entertainer Maggie Moo Music, as well as a light show.

In addition to this, Council’s popular Tides and Tunes program will see talented local musicians take to the Yeppoon Amphitheatre stage to perform live each Friday and Saturday nights across three weekends.

The Tides and Tunes Sunday Sessions are also new to the programme and will take place earlier in the day from 1pm – 3pm.

The school holiday events will be held from Friday 23 June and will run until Sunday 9 July.
