Spring into new School Holiday Program on the Capricorn Coast!
As the school holiday season approaches, Livingstone Shire Council is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated Spring on the Capricorn Coast program!
Bursting with nearly 30 exciting events and activities, this program is sure to put a spring in your step, create cherished memories for the entire family, and learn fun sustainability practices.
Kicking off on Friday, September 15, with the fun-filled Beach Day Out in Emu Park, the sustainability-themed program promises two weeks of non-stop excitement, culminating in a Tides and Tunes performance on Sunday, October 1.
Councillor Rhodes Watson, Portfolio Holder of Vibrant Community, encourages families to plan ahead to make the most of this fantastic program.
"Our school holiday programs are immensely popular, and spots tend to fill up fast. To avoid missing out on the fun, we strongly urge families to visit our Events Calendar and register for their preferred activities now," said Cr Watson.
“This diverse and accessible program offers a wide array of low-cost or no-cost activities designed to cater to a variety of interests and skill levels.
“From outdoor movies, arts and craft making, a gardening and cooking class, virtual reef adventures, come-and-try sports sessions, stage shows, and festivals, there's something for everyone to enjoy.”
One of the program's highlights is the return of the much-loved Tides and Tunes performances, bringing a line-up of live music to the Yeppoon foreshore.
Also featured in the program is the award-winning children's comedy, ‘Children are Stinky’ by Circus Trick Tease. This hilarious show has taken the world by storm with sell-out seasons and promises high-calibre circus performances, a rocking soundtrack, and genuine belly laughs.
Another exciting addition is the Eat Alley Pop Up Kitchen, an opportunity for high school-aged youth to learn about harvesting produce from a garden and preparing a delicious rainbow fried rice recipe.
For those interested in marine life, the Virtual Reef Adventures, offers a chance to dive into the reef without getting wet. Participants will journey with the reef authority to discover more about sea turtles or coral and the actions taken to protect our reef, followed by engaging reef-inspired art activities.
The program also includes the National Boys Choir North Queensland Tour, offering a unique experience to see one of Australia’s finest treble choirs.
Councillor Rhodes Watson expressed his appreciation for the Council staff and local groups and organisations that have come together to organise this exciting line-up of activities.
"These events bring our shire to life, and we applaud the dedication and creativity of all involved,” Cr Watson said.
“We look forward to welcoming Livingstone’s young people as they join in two weeks of adventure, learning, and entertainment across our region’s beautiful backyard.”
