Livingstone Shire Council Offers Extra Free Mulch Loading Day Ahead of the Festive Season

An extra free mulch loading day has been scheduled for Saturday, 16 December 2023, at both Yeppoon and Emu Park.

Councillor Andrea Friend, Portfolio holder of Water, Waste Management and the Environment, expressed the council's commitment to supporting the community during this bustling time.

"We understand the excitement of preparing homes for the festive season, and we're pleased to offer an extra day for residents to access free mulch and loading," Councillor Friend shared.

"This is our Waste team's way of thanking the community for their ongoing support and dedication, wishing everyone a safe and joyous festive season."

The schedule for the extra free mulch loading is as follows:

  • Yeppoon Landfill: 7:00 am - 11:00 am
  • Emu Park Transfer Station: 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

"We want to make sure residents have ample opportunity to beautify their yards and gardens," added Councillor Friend.

Standard grade mulch will be available free of charge, while fine grade mulch can be purchased at $38.50 per tonne, subject to availability.

It's important to note the usual free loading schedules for both Yeppoon and Emu Park. In Yeppoon, the free loading days occur on the 1st Tuesday and 2nd Saturday of each month from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. In Emu Park, they are scheduled for the 1st Tuesday from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm and the 2nd Saturday from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Councillor Friend emphasised, "We encourage all participants to adhere to loading regulations, ensuring all vehicles are loaded to the legal limit and tarped for safe transportation."
