Notice of Closure - Williamson Creek Pedestrian Bridge

Back

Livingstone Shire Council has undertaken a structural assessment of the timber Pedestrian Bridge at Williamson Creek on the Scenic Highway. The small timber bridge located on the upstream side of the creek has been deemed structurally unsound and unsafe for use. This closure is planned to commence early November 2024, and is essential to ensure the safety of community members who regularly walk or ride along this pathway.

It is expected that the closure of the bridge will result in increased pedestrian movements crossing the Scenic Highway at this location. To alleviate this, Council will implement short term safety improvements for pedestrians crossing the Scenic Highway and work with Translink to investigate the installation of a Hail & Ride bus facility on Clayton Road.

Council has committed $425,000.00 in the 24/25 budget for Stage 1 of the 4 stage pedestrian Master Plan. The design of stage 1 works has commenced with construction due later this financial year.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by the closure of the bridge and appreciates your patience whilst these works are carried out.

Should you have any further enquiries concerning the above, please contact Council's Customer Support team on 1300 790 919 or enquiries@livingstone.qld.gov.au
