Disability Sports Australia hosts their first Abilities Unleashed event in Queensland at Cooee Bay Multi-Sports Precinct these Easter holidays!
A fun and inclusive day of sport to try for both kids and adults living with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities will be held in Yeppoon next month as part of the Easter School holiday program!
Livingstone Shire Council is thrilled to host Abilities Unleashed in partnership with Disability Sports Australia, taking place at the Cooee Bay Multi – Sports Precinct on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Hosting their first ever event for Queensland in Livingstone Shire, Abilities Unleashed is a ground-breaking initiative focused on providing sporting pathways for people living with a physical, intellectual, or sensory disability.
The program offers people who are often segregated from mainstream physical activity due to a lack of modification knowledge and adaptive equipment, the opportunity to experience a variety of sport activities in a fun and inclusive environment.
The event will showcase a variety of modified sport and active recreation activities and is tailored to suit both adults and kids.
In order to promote future participation in physical activity, the program allows for attendees to identify sports and activities they enjoy and be provided with support and contacts for future participation and pathways.
National Program Manager of Abilities Unleashed Kristy Rohrer said these events encourage and empower participants to explore sporting and active recreation opportunities in their local community.
“Abilities Unleashed is a testament to our dedication to promoting active lives for all Australians with disabilities regardless of their age,” Ms Rohrer said.
“We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to explore their capabilities and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle. We are excited to see the smiles and enjoyment amongst our participants across the country.”
