Council Launches Informational Page for Ocean Park Avenue Traffic Closure Trial

Back

In response to residents' concerns and to provide a single source of up-to-date information, Livingstone Shire Council has launched a dedicated webpage for the Ocean Park Avenue traffic closure trial. This initiative, promised by Mayor Adam Belot, aims to keep the community informed and engaged throughout the trial period via the Council’s Get Involved website.

The newly established webpage will serve as a central hub where residents can access the latest updates on the trial, ask questions, and receive responses directly from Council staff. This effort underscores the Council's commitment to transparency and community engagement.

Livingstone Shire Council Mayor, Adam Belot expressed his gratitude to residents for their patience and involvement in the process.

“We understand that changes to traffic flow in and around Ocean Park Avenue can be disruptive, and we deeply appreciate the community's patience and input as we work to find the best solution for everyone,” Mayor Belot said.

“The feedback we've received before and after the recent public meeting has been invaluable in shaping this trial and our ongoing efforts to improve safety and liveability in the area. I want to thank everyone who has contacted me and the Councillors.

"The issues surrounding Ocean Park Avenue are complex, and we are committed to exploring various options to address the concerns of all residents. We must strike a balance that considers current and future developments in the area.

“I encourage residents to stay informed through the new webpage and to continue sharing their feedback with us."

The decision to create this informational page follows previous communications detailing the upcoming eight-week temporary road closure trial at the western end of Ocean Park Avenue. The trial, commenced in response to residents' concerns about non-local traffic volume, speed, and size, aims to deter non-resident traffic while addressing the needs of residents.
