The Singapura Express brings spectacular Show to Livingstone Shire!
Livingstone Shire Council is delighted to invite the community to an extraordinary cultural experience this November, as the highly acclaimed Music and Drama Company (MDC) from Singapore presents The Singapura Express—a vibrant celebration of Singapore’s rich multicultural heritage through song and dance.
Proudly supported by Livingstone Shire Council and the Music & Drama Company Singapore, this show promises to be an unforgettable experience that showcases Singapore’s unique cultural tapestry.
Taking place at Yeppoon Town Hall on 14 and 15 November, two shows will be performed each day starting from 2pm and 7.30pm.
With a rich history dating back to 1973, the Music & Drama Company was originally established to boost the morale of the Singapore Armed Forces through live entertainment.
Over the years, their performances have extended to broader audiences, gaining a reputation for captivating shows that blend music, dance, and storytelling.
Mayor Adam Belot said the Singapura Express is a free performance, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy a taste of Singaporean entertainment right here in Livingstone Shire.
“Livingstone Shire Council has held a long-standing relationship with the Singapore Armed Forces, with the SAF visiting our region annually for military exercises at the Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area,” Mayor Belot said.
Co-Chair of the Recreation and Culture Committee Councillor Andrea Friend said it’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to experience the cultural diversity and creativity of Singapore through this vibrant performance.
“MDC approached Council to offer these free community performances as a way to give back to the Livingstone Shire community, a place they love visiting,” Cr Friend said.
Councillor Lance Warcon said MDC has been captivating audiences for over 50 years, and Council is honoured to have them here in Livingstone Shire.
“Audiences can expect a spectacular performance that blends familiar tunes with engaging stories, all delivered with MDC’s signature energy and artistry,” Cr Warcon said.
“Council would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to MDC for their commitment to bringing international-quality entertainment to the Shire’s local community.”
