Livingstone Shire Council Approves Rockyview Mildura Rise Estate Development Application

Livingstone Shire Council is reinforcing its commitment to responsible growth, approving a major new housing development in Rockyview today, ensuring the Shire has ample capacity to accommodate future housing needs.

Mayor Adam Belot said the Mildura Rise development will ultimately provide around 400 new housing lots in the Shire, supporting continued growth north of Rockhampton.

“The development has been carefully designed to meet the highest standards, incorporating essential infrastructure such as new roads, water, and sewer connections,” Mayor Belot said.

“Importantly, the project has received the support of the Queensland Government.

“The Queensland Government has approved direct road access to the development from the Bruce Highway as part of the first stage. This will provide safe access to the development while also benefitting the overall road network for all residents,” Mayor Belot said.

“There is a significant community demand for more housing within our region, and we need to meet this demand by ensuring additional residential land is shovel-ready.

“This is a unique development with a diverse range of lot sizes, the smallest being 1013 m² and the largest 8719 m², with an average size of 2078 m².  Mildura Rise offers families a choice of larger lots compared to nearby north Rockhampton residential developments, such as The Gardens on Norman Road, where the average lot size is 400 m², or Elida, which offers lots between 440 m² and 1000 m².”

The design and layout of the development were key considerations in Council’s decision, reflecting a balance between growth and maintaining the local character.

“Council worked with the developer to ensure that the estate’s larger allotments (greater than 2000 m²) are positioned closer to the existing community boundaries to the north and south, transitioning to smaller-sized allotments toward the centre of the development,” Mayor Belot said.

“The developer has considered the existing character of the Rockyview area, while introducing much needed choices in lot sizes, lifestyles and affordability. Council has secured plans for a future community park to be funded by the developer.

“Council understands that residents value the rural residential lifestyle that Livingstone Shire offers. It’s our responsibility to ensure that new developments like this one uphold that lifestyle while accommodating growth needs. We believe this balance has been achieved with Mildura Rise.”

Key Benefits of the Mildura Rise development:
