Council launches second round of Walking Network Plan Consultation

Council is calling on residents to have their say in shaping the future of pedestrian networks across Taranganba, Lammermoor, and Keppel Sands as part of the second round of consultation for the Livingstone Shire Walking Network Plan (WNP).

The Walking Network Plan identifies and prioritises pathways that connect key destinations, improving accessibility, encouraging physical activity, and supporting active transportation in Livingstone Shire.

The extension of the Walking Network Plan builds upon the successful plans previously developed for Yeppoon and Emu Park CBDs and was made possible through funding secured from Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Infrastructure Services Committee Co-Chair, Councillor Rhodes Watson, highlighted the importance of community feedback in determining the priority pedestrian infrastructure across the areas of Lammermoor and Taranganba and in the township of Keppel Sands.

“The extension of the Walking Network Plan to include Lammermoor, Taranganba and Keppel Sands represents a significant opportunity for the local communities,” Cr Watson said.

“The improvements to the pathway network will allow better access to key destinations and essential services while inspiring healthier lifestyles and making commuting simpler and more enjoyable for everyone.”

“Your feedback is essential in helping us develop the plans for these priority walking routes, ensuring they meet the needs and aspirations of the local communities and the broader Livingstone Shire community.”

Key destinations identified within the network include local schools, shopping areas, recreational spaces, and public transport hubs.

These destinations are major generators of pedestrian traffic, and the proposed priority pathways will enable residents and visitors to travel more safely and conveniently between them.

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the consultation process and share their thoughts through Council’s Get Involved page.
